Government of Sindh Extends Closure of Schools and Colleges Due to rain Floods

The province’s educational institutions will open on August 29. The development comes as the provincial government is attempting to assist millions of people who have been impacted by floods in 23 disaster-stricken regions.

The Education Ministry has officially announced that all public and private schools and institutions in the province will be closed on August 26 and 27 owing to an emergency monsoon rainfall situation.

Pakistan Army has been sent by the provincial government to help the civil authorities with flood relief efforts. In Sindh, the monsoon rains of this year have wrought havoc, killing hundreds and destroying infrastructure worth billions of rupees.

Due to the anticipated heavy rains across Sindh, the provincial Education Ministry earlier this week declared the two-day shutdown of all educational institutions in the province.

According to the prior notification, all educational institutions, both public and private, were closed on August 24 and 25. The provincial government has extended the closure of educational institutions even though schools and colleges were supposed to reopen today due to the prevailing circumstances.
