Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) invites applications for multiple contract positions at the Trauma & Surgical Emergency Center, Larkana (under SMBBIT Karachi). Openings span acute care medicine, radiology, emergency services, critical care nursing, pharmacy, biomedical engineering, allied health, and hospital administration. Job Position Detail

Registration/License: All medical and nursing positions require valid PMDC/PNC/Pharmacy Council registration, as applicable.

📝 Abbreviations: PMDC = Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (registration/renewal as per current law), PNC = Pakistan Nursing Council, ER = Emergency Room, ICU = Intensive Care Unit.

What you’ll do (role highlights)

Emergency & Acute Care (Physicians, RMOs, SMOs, MOs)

• Deliver fast, protocol-driven care for polytrauma, road-traffic injuries, head/chest/abdominal trauma, burns, and acute medical emergencies.
• Triage within minutes, stabilize airways, breathing, and circulation; coordinate imaging, labs, and interdepartmental referrals.
• Document clearly in ER records, initiate evidence-based order sets, counsel attendants, and hand over seamlessly to ICU/wards.
• Participate in M&M meetings, clinical audits, and simulation drills for mass-casualty readiness.

Radiology (Consultant, Jr. Consultant, Specialist)

• Provide 24/7 imaging support: trauma CT protocols, trauma FAST/POCUS, emergency X-ray reporting, and critical findings escalation.
• Supervise imaging QA, radiation safety, and technologist training; optimize turnaround time for ER/OT.

Critical Care & Anesthesia

• Manage ventilators, sedation & analgesia, hemodynamics, and procedures (lines, ABG, NIV/HFNC).
• Work with intensivists and surgeons for goal-directed therapy; champion infection-prevention bundles in ICU.

Nursing (Senior/Staff Nurses & ICU)

• Lead and deliver bedside care using standard early warning scores, safe medication administration, and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain stringent hand hygiene, device-care bundles (central lines, catheters, ventilators), and concise nursing notes.
• Mentor junior staff and assistants; ensure BLS/ACLS skills remain current.

Allied & Support (Biomedical, Pharmacy, RT, ICU Tech, HR, Nursing Assistants)

• Biomedical Engineering: keep equipment uptime high—preventive maintenance schedules, rapid corrective actions, calibration logs, vendor coordination.
• Pharmacy: manage ER/ICU formulary, downtime kits, look-alike/sound-alike labeling, and medication-safety checks.
• Respiratory Therapy & ICU Technicians: run ventilators, circuits, ABGs, and airway adjuncts safely; maintain consumables and equipment hygiene.
• HR Officer: manage hiring workflows, contracts, attendance, and compliance records; ensure timely staff onboarding and trainings.
• Nursing Assistants: patient positioning, hygiene, sample collection support, stock counts, and transport—always with dignity and privacy.
