Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) Karachi has announced contract-based vacancies for Consultant Vascular Surgery, Consultant Thoracic Surgery, Jr. Consultant Plastic Surgery, Emergency Physician, Specialist Anesthetist, Fellow General Surgery, Resident Medical Officer (ICU/Anaesthesia), Resident/Senior/Medical Officers (Thoracic Surgery & Orthopaedic), Academic & Training Officer, Graphic Designer, Assistant Manager Fire & Safety, Staff Nurse (Infection Control), Staff Nurse, and Junior Biomedical Engineer.
SMBBIT is a high-acuity public sector trauma institute. The new intake targets clinical specialists, resident-level doctors, nursing professionals, and technical/administrative staff who can thrive in a fast, protocol-driven emergency environment. Salaries will be offered as per Trauma Pay Scale and service rules.

What You’ll Do (Role Highlights)
- Consultant Vascular & Thoracic Surgery / Jr. Consultant Plastic Surgery: Lead theatres and clinics, supervise residents, refine perioperative protocols, and participate in tumor/trauma boards. Ensure operative safety, logical decision-making, and timely documentation.
- Emergency Physician: Direct resuscitation, trauma bay leadership, rapid triage, and time-critical decision-making; coordinate with surgery, anesthesia, and radiology for damage-control strategies.
- Specialist Anesthetist: Manage airway, sedation, regional anesthesia, ICU handovers, and pain control; participate in OT efficiency and ICU/ER on-call rosters.
- Fellow & Resident-level Doctors: Take calls, run ward rounds, perform procedures under supervision, write clinical notes, and support audits, research, and CME.
- Nursing (Infection Control & General): Enforce bundles (CLABSI/CAUTI/VAP), isolation protocols, medication safety, and patient education; maintain PNC-compliant records.
- Assistant Manager Fire & Safety: Carry out risk assessments, evacuation drills, HSE training, equipment checks, and compliance reporting aligned with hospital safety standards.
- Graphic Designer: Produce print/digital designs, SOP diagrams, CME flyers, patient education materials, and signage consistent with brand guidelines.
- Junior Biomedical Engineer: Preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical devices, calibration, spare-parts control, user training, and liaison with vendors for uptime assurance.
