Role Highlights & Typical Responsibilities

Medical Oncology

  • Palliative Care Physician: Lead symptom management (pain, dyspnea, nausea), goals-of-care conversations, discharge planning, and family counseling; strengthen referral pathways and end-of-life care protocols.
  • Faculty (Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor): Teach ward-based and clinic-based oncology; supervise chemotherapy safety, MDT discussions, and protocolized care pathways; maintain publications/CPD in line with PMC requirements.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

  • Senior Lecturer (Paediatrics): Contribute to paediatric critical care rounds, teaching, and simulation-based training; ensure adherence to ventilation and hemodynamic monitoring standards.
  • Staff Nurse: Deliver safe ICU nursing—vital signs monitoring, central line care, ventilated patient care, and accurate documentation; ACLS/BLS are a plus. 🩺

Pathology/Clinical Pathology (Sukkur)

  • Faculty/Consultant/Specialist: Service in haematology, chemical pathology, and microbiology as per credentials; uphold external quality assurance (EQA), biosafety, and turnaround time targets; meet PMDC publication criteria.

Urology, Nephrology & Medical Oncology

  • Senior Resident/Medical Officer: Provide supervised inpatient and outpatient care; pre-op workup, peri-op support, dialysis rounds, chemotherapy day-care (as per rotation); participate in M&M meetings and audits. ✅

Operation Theater Technologists

  • Trainee OT Technician/Anaesthesia Technician: Prepare OT, sterilization checks, machine readiness, patient positioning, anaesthesia circuit checks, and post-op transfer protocols; logbooks are mandatory for trainees.

Physiotherapy

  • Speech Therapist: Evaluate and manage dysphagia; bedside screening, VFSS referrals where available, and caregiver training for paediatric and adult populations; inter-professional collaboration with ENT, ICU, and oncology.

Urology Technology

  • Lithotripsy Technician: Operate lithotripters, manage patient positioning and safety, assist urologists during ESWL, and maintain equipment logs and quality indicators.

Biomedical Engineering

  • Trainee/Service Technician: First-line troubleshooting for dialysis machines and reverse-osmosis plants; scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration records, spares inventory, and compliance with electrical safety norms.

Medical Social Work & Coding

  • Trainee Medical Social Worker: Psychosocial assessment, counseling, family liaison, and coordination for indigent care and long-term follow-up.
  • Trainee Medical Coder: Convert clinical documentation into standardized codes (ICD/CPT as relevant), support registry audits, and data quality checks.
