About NAB (National Accountability Bureau)

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an anti-corruption organization in Pakistan. It was established in 1999 with the mandate to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption in the country. NAB’s main focus is to recover stolen or embezzled public money and to bring corrupt officials and politicians to justice.

NAB operates under the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) of 1999 and is headed by a Chairman who is appointed by the President of Pakistan. The organization has several wings, including Investigation, Operations, Prosecution, and Awareness and Prevention.

NAB has the authority to arrest, detain, and prosecute individuals and organizations on charges of corruption, and it also has the power to seize assets and freeze the bank accounts of suspects. The organization works closely with other law enforcement agencies and government departments in Pakistan and also has the power to initiate investigations on its own.
