OIST Japan Funded Internship 2022

Students who are interested in OIST Japan Funded Internship 2022 programme and have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or just graduated degree can apply as Research interns. Internships at OIST give students research experience while being supervised by faculty.

There are two competitive internships each year. Highly competitive selection based on research fit, academic background, funding, and space.

OIST Japan Funded Internship

Application Procedure

  • The only way to apply is online.
  • When you get a letter of recommendation, you can send in your application.
  • Your application will be checked out automatically. (Check your settings to see if you can get emails from @oist.jp.)
  • After the time for applications ends, people will be chosen.
  • The results will be posted 3 months after the last day to apply. The answer will be sent to you by email. (Some applicants’ email services or settings prevent us from getting in touch with them. Please confirm your email can receive @oist.jp emails.
  • After internship offers are confirmed, all the arrangements that need to be made with interns will be made. Your help is needed to set up the internship, including getting a visa and doing other paperwork for the Japanese government.

Eligibility

You can apply if you are in your last two years of an undergraduate or Master’s programme at a university, college, junior college, or vocational school in Japan or abroad, or if you have already graduated. Students must get permission from their home school. Your education should match the OIST unit you want to join (s).

Japanese interns who are accepted into OIST’s Research Internship programme must bring their own insurance. Gakkensai and Gakkenbai, or other insurances that work the same way, are fine.

Required Application Materials

Make an account to apply. Don’t forget your log-in info. The application can be filled out in one sitting or over several. To apply, please send the following:

1) Goals and objectives

A Statement of Interest is part of online applications.

In a 400-word (2500-character) statement, please include the following:

  1. How does OIST fit with what you know and what you can do? Please explain in one statement why you are interested in and are a good fit for more than one research unit.
  2. What do you want to do at OIST?
  3. How does an internship at OIST fit into your plans for your career?

2) Academic Transcript and Diploma

Scan your current and past transcripts (BSc, MSc, etc.)

PDF BSc, MSc diploma (if applicable)

  1. The website for applying will accept a scanned copy of an unofficial transcript or other records of grades.
  2. Transcripts that aren’t in English need an explanation in English.
  3. Upload your school’s enrollment certificate if you haven’t graduated yet (which preferably indicates your expected graduation date)

3) Recommendation Letter

A recommendation letter from a professor or research professional is needed. Each applicant needs to have between one and three letters of recommendation. Using the email address you give in the web form, the application system will send an email to your recommenders. Get their permission before you send in a referee’s information. When OIST gets a letter of recommendation, the system lets applicants know.

4) Photo of ID

Upload a recent photo of yourself that shows your face from the front, as it would be on a passport.
