Role Descriptions & Expectations

1. Deputy Project Directors (Operations & Technical)

These are senior leadership positions responsible for the overall functioning of the Karachi Safe City Project:

  • Operations Lead: Manages day-to-day operations of command & control centres, emergency response systems, field surveillance units and integrated security operations. Oversees control room staff, coordinates with law-enforcement units and ensures 24/7 system availability.
  • Technical Lead: Oversees design, deployment and maintenance of ICT infrastructure including CCTV networks, VMS, ANPR, fibre-optic backbone, wireless communication systems and analytics platforms. Evaluates vendor solutions, ensures system integration and leads troubleshooting and upgrades.

Both roles demand at least 7 years of relevant experience, strong project management skills, vendor and stakeholder coordination, and a proven record in large-scale ICT/surveillance or Safe City-type projects.


2. Engineering Positions (Civil, Electrical, Field)

The engineering team supports the planning and execution of all physical and technical infrastructure for the project:

  • Senior Civil Engineer & Civil Engineer: Oversee structural and civil works for control centres, equipment rooms, towers, poles and related infrastructure. Handle drawings, BOQs, estimates, quality control, contractor supervision and compliance with building codes and government procedures.
  • Electrical Engineer: Responsible for electrical designs, load management, low-current systems, backup power and safe installation of equipment at all sites.
  • Field Engineers: Work on-site to supervise construction and installation works, verify measurements, coordinate with contractors and report progress to the project management unit.

Engineers are expected to be comfortable with site supervision, quantity measurement, reporting, health & safety, and must be proficient with MS Office and basic engineering software.


3. Technical Consultant

The Technical Consultant is a high-level specialist guiding the overall technological architecture of the Safe City ecosystem. Responsibilities typically include:
