The Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST), Government of Pakistan is hiring on a purely contract basis for its PSDP project “Establishment of Pak-Korea Testing Laboratory for PV Modules & Allied Equipment.” The laboratory operates under MoST’s administrative control in Islamabad and supports quality assurance for solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, balance-of-system components, and related electrical safety.
Openings include: Assistant Director (Tech), Principal Technician, Technical Assistant, Lab Attendant, and Plumber/Electrician. Posts are filled against regional quotas and will continue till project completion, extendable on satisfactory performance.

These positions suit graduates of Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Refrigeration, IT/Computer Science/Software Engineering and DAE diploma holders who want to work at the intersection of renewable energy, product testing, and public-interest standards. The lab will facilitate PV reliability testing (e.g., thermal cycling, damp heat, mechanical load), electrical performance verification (flash testing, I-V curves), and safety conformance—enabling local manufacturing and import compliance.

What You’ll Do (Role Highlights)

Assistant Director (Tech) — PPS-07

  • Plan and supervise PV module and component tests, coordinate schedules, and ensure EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) compliance in high-energy labs.
  • Draft SOPs, calibrate instruments with support from quality teams, and verify traceability to national/international references.
  • Lead data analysis and write technical reports suitable for audits and market surveillance.
  • Improve digital workflows (LIMS/MIS), dashboards, and test-result archiving; oversee vendor and AMC management.

Principal Technician — PPS-06

  • Run day-to-day test benches: flash test systems, climatic chambers, load frames, IV curve tracers.
  • Prepare test specimens, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain calibration logs.
  • Guide Technical Assistants in safe handling, wiring, and documentation.

Technical Assistant — PPS-05

  • Assist in the installation, wiring, and instrumentation of PV modules and allied equipment.
  • Record readings, maintain sample registers, and support cleanroom/controlled-environment routines.
  • Learn to troubleshoot typical issues (connectors, shading, temperature coefficients, insulation resistance).

Lab Attendant — PPS-01

  • Maintain lab upkeep, inventory, and safety signage; facilitate movement of samples and consumables.
  • Support waste disposal as per EHS SOPs and help prepare test setups under supervision.

Plumber/Electrician — PPS-01

  • Maintain electrical panels, earthing, and plumbing infrastructure (cooling circuits, de-ionized water loops), ensuring safe and continuous lab operations.
