Khyber Medical University – Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (KMU-IPM&R), Peshawar invites applications from Pakistani citizens (male/female) for teaching positions in Prosthetics & Orthotics, Audiology, and Occupational Therapy. Introduction and role context
Rehabilitation sciences are expanding rapidly across Pakistan, with growing demand for orthotic and prosthetic services, auditory assessment and rehabilitation, and occupational therapy in hospitals, community clinics, and special-needs schools. KMU-IPM&R sits at the center of this growth: it trains graduates, runs clinics with supervised practice, and supports research tied to local patient needs. Faculty here teach small cohorts, guide clinical postings, and build bridges with public and private care providers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and beyond.
As a Lecturer or Assistant Professor, you’ll develop modules, deliver classroom and skills-lab teaching, supervise OSCEs, lead clinical rotations, and help improve assessment rubrics that align with HEC/KMU regulations. Demonstrators are the hands-on bridge between classrooms and clinics—setting up labs, assisting in practicals, maintaining equipment, and supporting faculty with student supervision and skills sign-offs.
What you’ll do day to day
Teaching and assessment
- Plan weekly lessons, practicals, and case-based sessions that translate theory into patient care.
- Develop course files, lesson plans, and OSCE/OSPE stations with clear rubrics.
- Use evidence-based practice and current guidelines; integrate assistive technology developments into teaching.
Clinical supervision
- Mentor students during hospital/clinic postings, focusing on safe practice, ethics, and patient communication.
- For P&O: teach casting, alignment, socket modifications, gait analysis, material science, and device maintenance.
- For Audiology: train students in pure-tone and speech audiometry, immittance, otoacoustic emissions, ABR, hearing-aid selection and verification, and aural rehabilitation.
- For OT: supervise functional assessments, ADL training, splinting basics, ergonomics, and community-based rehab activities.
Quality & student support
- Maintain accurate records of competencies and clinical hours.
- Offer academic advising, help students build portfolios, and prepare them for internships and first jobs.
Program development
- Review and update curricula with colleagues to match international benchmarks and local service realities.
- Contribute to departmental seminars, CPD activities, and outreach camps.
