The Health Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) invites applications from qualified Medical Surgeons (male and female) for multiple positions at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals across the province. These appointments are on a fixed-pay basis for one (01) year, extendable on satisfactory performance. The recruitment and screening will be conducted via ETEA (Educational Testing & Evaluation Agency). Positions are available in Upper Kurram (Parachinar), South Waziristan (Wana), Battagram, Lower Chitral, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, and Karak.

What You’ll Do (Role Overview)

Working as a Medical Surgeon in a DHQ hospital demands both clinical skill and community focus. While assignments may vary by facility and patient load, typical responsibilities include:

  • Emergency & Trauma Care: Initial assessment, stabilization, and operative/bedside procedures where indicated; participation in emergency rosters. 🚑
  • Elective & Semi-Elective Surgeries: Pre-op evaluation, informed consent, operative planning, intra-operative decision-making, and post-op recovery.
  • Ward & OPD Management: Daily rounds, progress notes, discharge summaries, and regular outpatient clinics for follow-up care.
  • Referral Coordination: Triage cases requiring tertiary care, prepare referral notes, and liaise with teaching hospitals.
  • Patient Safety & Infection Control: Adherence to surgical safety checklists, asepsis protocols, and antibiotic stewardship.
  • Documentation & Audit: Maintain legible clinical records; contribute to morbidity–mortality reviews and quality improvement meetings.
  • Mentorship & Teamwork: Guide house officers/medical officers, coordinate with anaesthesia, nursing, diagnostics, and admin teams.
  • Community Sensitivity: Provide compassionate care in line with local needs; support preventive and promotive health initiatives where required.

Eligibility, Terms & Conditions (Read Carefully)

  • Provisional Screening: Candidates may be provisionally allowed to appear in the ETEA screening test based on submitted credentials. Detailed scrutiny will be conducted by the Appointing Authority; any ineligible candidate at any stage will be disqualified.
  • ETEA Profile & CNIC Verification: All applicants must create a profile on ETEA’s website. After profile creation and fee steps, candidates must print an E-Sahulat token from ETEA and get their CNIC verified at any NADRA E-Sahulat franchise (kiosk). Without this verification, you cannot apply. 🔐
  • Shortlisting & Test: Screening will be based on a test prescribed and conducted by ETEA. Interview call letters will be issued to shortlisted candidates only.
  • Eligibility Cut-off: Candidates must meet all eligibility criteria by the last date of applications.
  • Timelines Matter: Applications after due date are not entertained. Incomplete applications or those with fake documents/information will be rejected.
  • Govt/Semi-Govt Employees: Apply through proper channel. Those applying for more than one post must apply separately and pay separate fee.
  • Vacancy Variation: The competent authority may increase/decrease the number of posts with cogent reasons.
  • Foreign Degrees: Provide HEC equivalence for foreign qualifications.

4) How to Apply: Step-by-Step Process

A) Online Application via ETEA 🖥️

  2. Create/Update Profile: Enter accurate personal details. Make sure your mobile number is not ported/converted, as ETEA cautions against using such numbers for SMS alerts. 📱
  3. Submit Application: Complete the form for Medical Surgeon (Fixed Pay) and submit. On success, the system generates a prescribed online deposit slip with Token Number, Project Code, and your particulars.
  4. Fee Deposit (Non-Refundable): Print the slip and deposit the test fee via Easypaisa app/agent, JazzCash app, or at any UBL branch / UBL OMNI agent. Keep the candidate copy of the slip with the bank stamp safe—do not share it. 💳
  5. Document Handling: Do not send documents/testimonials to ETEA at this stage. Copies will be required only from candidates who qualify the screening test, when asked by the Appointing Authority for scrutiny. 📝
  6. Roll Number Slip: ETEA will inform eligible applicants by SMS to download & print the Roll No. Slip from the website. The test date, time, and venue will be printed on it. 📅
